Frown Freezing

BTX has revolutionised the treatment of lines of the upper face and lower facial dimples.

Botulinium toxin is a prescription medicine, and as such we are not permitted to advertise its use in our clinic by name. We understand that it can be frustrating for people wishing to find out about treatments for frowning, facial lines, those wishing to lift the upper face and even more so for those suffering migraine. Let us use the term "BTX"

BTX is a muscle relaxing agent used originally for the treatment of tics, spasms and squints. Large doses are used successfully and safely over the last twenty five years for the treatment of spasticity and muscle pain.

Much smaller doses can be used to control facial movements that lead to line formation; frowning, chin puckering, crows' feet etc. The effects are seen three to seven days after injection and normally last for about four months. This figure is variable and some clients only need treatment every year. The need for treatment diminishes with time as we forget how to frown giving the skin a chance to recover.

The treatment can give a veritable lift to the upper face and conveys a sense of tranquillity in the individual. It eliminates frown lines, forehead lines, crows' feet and frequently relieves tension headaches and migraines.

Lines on the neck and the décolleté also respond well to treatment with BTX.

The treated area may be a bit red for half an hour and rarely there may be a small bruise. Make-up can be applied immediately after treatment.

Perspiration, more often due to stress than overheating, can be controlled with BTX. Tiny doses injected just under the skin of the armpits will cause the sweat glands to stop working for up to eight months. BTX perspiration control is suitable for both men and women and can be combined with BTX to the face. The doses remain small. BTX perspiration control is particularly recommended for those with allergy to or dislike of classical anti-perspirants.
